WALLA WALLA – The teams comprising the Mid-Columbia Conference gathered Wednesday, Sept. 21 for the first MCC Meet in Walla Walla. At the end of the day, the Hermiston boys finished at the top of the team standings while the Bulldog girls placed second.
For the first time this season, Hermiston sophomore Jaysen Rodriguez saw a runner cross the line in front of him. Rodriguez finished behind Kamiakin’s Ezra Teeples by less than four seconds, but the Bulldogs still place three runners in the top 10. Joining Rodriguez was Pedro Pacheco in fifth and John Mills in 10th.
The Lady Bulldogs were just a few points shy of the top team of Kamiakin in the team standings. Placing second, Hermiston was again led by junior Jaquelin Garica Sandoval with a seventh place showing. Fellow junior Lillian Fields placed 10th.
Easternoregonsports.com is again standing out from other media sources by listing all the runners from eastern Oregon schools in the cross-country competitions. First or 41st, all these runners made it to the finish line. There is only a single runner with the best time, but there are many more stories worth mentioning afterwards.
