Heppner Football Takes Care Of Riverside Early

HEPPNER – For the Heppner football team, games on Thursdays or Fridays does not matter. The Mustangs just keep winning.

Hosting the Riverside Pirates on Thursday, Oct. 7, Heppner put the game away early, putting up 34 points in the first quarter and cruised to a 61-0 victory.

With the score building early, 10 Heppner players had a chance to run the ball, led by Caden George’s 91 yards and one score. Brock Hisler picked up 82 yards on the ground and also had a score. Hayden McMahon picked up one trip to the end zone to go with 50 yards.

Quarterback Landon Mitchell was 4-for-6 for 102 yards and two scores.

For Riverside, Eloy Ramos carried eight times for 21 yards against the Mustang defense. Quarterback Anthony Lopez was 4-for-12 for 42 yards.

Holding the Pirates scoreless, Heppner’s defense was led by Blaine Mahoney with six tackles. Cade Cunningham finished with five tackles.
