Harper Starts Season With Win Over Pine Eagle

HARPER – After only taking the volleyball court twice during last year’s short season, the Harper Charter Hornets started off this season with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Pine Eagle Spartans on Friday, August 27.

Harper started the match with a 3-0 run to begin game one. The Spartans fought back and tied at the score at 4-4 and grabbed a 6-5 lead off an ace serve. Pine Eagle continued to build on the margin and took game one, 25-19.

The Hornets set the tone in game two, beginning with an ace serve by Ashley Edmondson to grab a 1-0 start. The Hornets never let up, leading the entire game and knotting up the match with a 25-20 win.

Finding the team rhythm, Harper breezed through game three with a 25-19 victory and took the match with a 25-15 win in the final and fourth game.

Harper will next travel to Ontario on Sept. 3 to meet the Tiger junior varsity squad on Sept. 3.

The schedule for Pine Eagle is not easy as the Spartans give the home fans their first view of the team on August 31 when Pine Eagle hosts Powder Valley.
