Enterprise Boys Run Away With Baker Invite Team Title

BAKER – The Enterprise boys cross country team continues to terrorize both larger and smaller Oregon schools and now have added Idaho schools as the Outlaws grabbed the team title at the Baker Invite on Friday, Oct. 1.

Putting up 32 points, Enterprise was the victor with Union placing second with a point total of 54. Idaho’s Parma Panthers were in the third spot followed by Burns in fourth and the host Baker team in fifth.

Enterprise senior Zac Knapp continued his run of first-place finishes, taking the tape in a time of 16 minutes, 15.34 seconds. Knapp was followed by teammate Bayden Menton in second with a time of 17:28.51. A third Outlaw runner, senior Ian Goodrich also had a top ten finish, placing ninth with a time of 18:21.69.

Pine Eagle senior Caleb Brown continues to shine in his final year of high school running, placing third. Union placed two runners in the top five with junior Taylor Fox placing fourth followed by sophomore Eli Williams in fifth.

Vale sophomore Trevor Stewart placed sixth for the best finish for the Vikings. For Burns, senior Masson Shaw was eighth and the host Baker team saw junior Thaddeus Pepera cross the line in 15th. In 16th, junior Caleb Murie was tops for the La Grande Tigers and Adrian senior Chase Johnston placed 24th. The Grant Union team saw junior Quinn Larson finish 27th while Nyssa sophomore Spencer Romans placed 29th. Imbler freshman Adam Gordon placed 33rd and Elgin sophomore Jacob Peden was 37th. The top runner for Four Rivers was junior Aiden Herrera in the 43rd slot.

The team results for the girls went the way of Idaho as the Weiser Wolverines took first place with a score of 53 followed by the Parma Panthers with 62 points. The top Oregon team was Union in third place with 70 points. The host Bulldogs were fourth and Imbler rounded out the top five.

The individual results found La Grande grabbing three of the top ten slots including winner Emily Tubbs. The Tiger sophomore finished the 5,000 meters in a time of 20:31.55, her second-best time of the year. In third place was La Grande freshman Cecilia Villagomez and sixth place saw Tiger sophomore Faith Calhoun.

On her home course, Baker senior Emma Baeth placed seventh while Union senior Audrey Wells was just outside the top ten, placing 11th. Imbler sophomore Austyn Turner placed 12th and the top finish for Burns came on the feet of junior Mattie Woodbury in 14th.

Vale sophomore Ava Collins placed 21st and in 23rd was Adrian sophomore Evalyn Nunez. For Enterprise, sophomore Iona McDonald was 27th and Grant Union saw freshman Maddie Bailey place 38th. Freshman Lacatia Mason placed 45th for the best finish for Four Rivers.
