Eastern Oregon teams successful in opening round for soccer

Overall it was a very successful day for boys soccer teams in eastern Oregon yesterday. Starting in 3A/2A/1A, #11 ranked Riverside easily handled De La Salle North Catholic 7-2. Riverside will try to get revenge when they play #2 Oregon Episcopal on the road Saturday, a team they lost to 4-0 earlier in the season.

The 4A ranks had three of four teams make the quarter finals. #3 Ontario took down #14 Gladstone 3-1 behind two goals from Greg Rodriguez. Ontario will host #6 Woodburn on Saturday in Ontario. #9 La Grande traveled to #8 North Marion and beat the Huskies 3-0. The Tigers have a tough task ahead as they travel to #1 Marist Catholic on Saturday. #7 McLoughlin beat #10 Hidden Valley in a tight one 1-0 and will travel to #2 Valley Catholic next. The lone 4A team to face defeat was #16 Baker/Powder Valley who lost on the road at #1 Marist Catholic.

#6 Hood River Valley was the lone 5A team from the east to win as they took down #10 West Albany 3-0. The Eagles face #2 ranked Ashland. #11 Ridgview lost to #6 Silverton and #16 The Dalles/Dufur also lost to #1 La Salle Prep 0-5.
