ONTARIO – One item was obvious as the Boise Brave girls wrestling squad showed up to the Charlie Anthony Memorial Tournament in Ontario on Saturday, Dec. 18-Boise High School had a full squad with members in almost the full weight divisions.
Relying on adequate numbers, Boise took the team title for the girls, putting up 74 points. Payette, Idaho was second with Nyssa in third with 27 points. The host Ontario Tigers were fourth with 24 points, one point ahead of fifth-place Vale. Adrian finished seventh after Virginia Tolman picked up second place in the 105-pound division.
The one class Boise was not able to fill went completely to Nyssa. At 125 pounds, senior Yisella Torres stepped on the mat to face teammate, junior Kaitlyn Esplin. Torres dominated both matches for the title while Esplin took runner-up.

Vale’s bright spot came at 140 pounds as sophomore Ava Collins went 2-1 on the day, pinning Boise’s Clare Waite for the top spot.
The host Ontario team picked up a second-place finish by senior Alejandra Contreras.
