CRANE – Family, friends and coaches gathered as Crane senior Taylor Joyce made it official-she is running track at Eastern Oregon University.

“We continue to look for quality local talent and Taylor fit the bill,” said Mountaineers’ sprint coach Connor Bracken. “There is a fire about her that drew us. She will be a great addition to our small team looking to build.”

In the interview with Bracken, he quickly mentioned Joyce’s recent new school record of 17 feet, 7 inches in the long jump.

“That is a significant jump for a high school athlete,” he said. “In her on-campus visit, we were impressed with her both as an athlete and as a student and a person.”

Joyce’s plan at Eastern Oregon University center around the veterinary science field.

In addition to her long jump showing, Joyce boasts a  1 minute, 4.1 second 400 meter, a 13.01 second 100 meters, a 26.86 second 200 meters and clearance of 8 feet, 7 inches in the pole vault.

EOS congratulates Taylor on her signing with EOU an will continue to follow her next track and field season as a Mountaineer.
