ADRIAN – The battle at the top of the 1A High Desert League will remain between the Mustang teams of both Crane and Jordan Valley after Crane rolled over Adrian, 75-57 on Tuesday, Jan. 21 in the Antelope gym.
Crane jumped out early and often in this game, putting up 21 points in the first quarter while the Mustang defense held the Lopes without a bucket until after over half the time had expired in the first quarter. The Mustangs had their best quarter scoring in the second, adding an additional 25 points to the team’s total and led 46-26 at the half.
The Antelopes did add just enough points to keep the game away from a running clock in the third and with Crane pulling their starters in the final eight minutes, Adrian outscored the Mustangs 16 to 9 in the final eight minutes of the game.
Kaitlyn Siegner led all scorers in the game with 32 points for Crane. Junior Ave Bowen followed with 16 points and Emily Clark ended her night with 12 points.
In the loss, Adrian saw balanced scoring led by Addy Martin’s 18 points and Peyton Kincade’s 17 points. Clara Seiders added 11 points to the Lopes’ score.
The victory takes Crane to a 5-0 record in the league standings, the same record as Jordan Valley. Crane currently holds down fourth in the 1A state rankings. The loss places the Antelopes at .500 in league with a 2-2 record.
