VALE – The Burns boys’ basketball team pushed their Eastern Oregon League record to a perfect 2-0 with a 62-41 win over Vale on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Making the trip to Vale without a few players due to a flu bug raging through the school, the Hilanders led the game from the start, holding the Vikings to only 16 points in the first half. Using their size inside, Burns led 33-16 at halftime.
The Vikings were outscored in all four quarters of the game with Burns picking up 27 points from Dylan Johnson to lead all scorers for the night. Jack Wright added 11 points while Carsen Volle put in 10 points.
Freshman Cal Johnson led Vale with 15 points followed by Canon Hiatt’s 12 points.
Riverside and Burns now sit without a loss in the league standings while Vale, Nyssa and Umatilla head into the weekend looking for the first Eastern Oregon victory. McLoughlin stands at .500 with a 1-1 showing.
