A sixth place showing in the 3A ranks for the Burns Hilanders was the best finish for eastern Oregon schools as the Oregon School Activities Association released the final point standings for the OSAA Cup, a culmination of the year’s activities.

Schools earn points towards the Cup based on finishes in OSAA State Championships and finishes in the academic all-state program. Points are also awarded for schools with no ejections of varsity athletes or coaches throughout the year.

Among eastern Oregon schools, Burns had the top finish at eighth statewide with a point total of 2,078.5.  Also making the top 10 in the total points was La Pine with 1,452 points.

Nyssa finished the year at 15th among 3A schools after scoring 1,258.3 points. With 980 points, McLoughlin ended the year in 26th followed by Lakeview in 27th with 965 points. Vale finished 33rd in the team standings with 815 points and the other Vikings, Umatilla, was 39th with 675 points. Putting up 537.5 points, Riverside finished 42nd.
