Jamieson Produce is an onion packing shed located in Vale, Oregon that packs and ships onions across the United States 12 months of the year. It has been in operation for nearly 40 years and currently employees about 50 people. Over the years our business has grown and to date we pack and ship over 100 million pounds of onions each year. We appreciate the quality onions our growers provide and the hard work our employees do every day. Jamieson Produce is owned by Doug and Terrie Maag and managed by Jeff Stubbs.

Y-1 Farms is located in Jamieson, Oregon and is owned by Doug and Terrie Maag and Corey and Mandi Maag. Various row crops such as onions, sugar beets, silage corn, alfalfa, and wheat are grown on nearly 2000 acres. The feed crops are used to provide feed for the feedlot they operate. Up to 12,000 head of cattle can be fed at Y-1 Farms. Y-1 Farms was established in 1985 but the Maag Family was farming before that. Doug farmed with his father, Warner Maag, for several years prior before purchasing his own farm. Y-1 Farms employs about 20 full-time employees to assist in operating the farm. We are extremely grateful for our employees and the hard work they provide.

BURNS – Fans really don’t need a bracket to follow the upcoming 3A Eastern Oregon League volleyball tournament. Only three teams are in action with both matches taking place on Saturday, Oct. 26 in the Hilanders gym in Burns.

With Burns sitting in the stands and watching, the Vale Vikings and Nyssa Bulldogs start the tournament with a match scheduled for noon.

In their two previous games played this season, Vale took both victories. However, the second match went the full five sets before the Vikings grabbed the season sweep. Vale (14-10 overall, 8-2 Eastern Oregon League) is currently ranked 18th in the state while Nyssa (9-18 overall, 6-4 Eastern Oregon League) holds down 30th in the state rankings.

Approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the first match, the winner of Vale/Nyssa will meet Burns for the district title.

Burns (25-4 overall, 10-0 Eastern Oregon League) is unblemished in league play with wins over both Nyssa and Vale during the season. The Hilanders currently are the lone league team with a top 10 state ranking coming in at seventh.

A change this season by the OSAA limits the Eastern Oregon League to only two qualifying teams, not three as in previous seasons. The third place finisher after Saturday’s tournament will need to wait until Saturday, Oct. 26 hoping for one of three at-large qualifying invitations.
