Burns, Enterprise boys close as possible

PENDLETON – The surprise resulting from the finish of the 3A District 3 cross country championship was not Enterprise sophomore Henry Coughlan running away from the rest of the field. Nor was the surprise Burns and Enterprise would be close when the team scores were tallied. The surprise was just how close these two teams would be at the race finished.

Both Burns and Enterprise finished the day with 32 points and both are headed to the state cross country meet to be held Saturday, November 9 on the campus of Lane Community College.

Coughlan was the lone athlete to complete the 5,000 meters in under 16 minutes, putting up a time of 15 minutes, 56.7 seconds. Burns senior JP Friedrichsen ran second with a time of 16:05.9 and Enterprise sophomore Zac Knapp was third with a time of 16:19.2.  An additional Enterprise sophomore, Bayden Menton, was fourth.

Also making the trip to Lane Community College is La Pine freshman Wyatt Montgomery who with his fifth place finish qualifies to run against the best in the 3A ranks in the state.
