Burns Boys, Grant Union Girls Win GU Tournament (Panthers’ Quinton Fires 69)

GRANT UNION – The Burns boys and the host Grant Union girls took the team titles as golfers from numerous schools came together at the Grant Union Invitational on Friday, April 14.

The Hilanders ended the day with a stroke total of 390 led by Colton Miller’s 78. Prairie City was second after firing a 398 and had the individual champion after Sawyer Quinton ended his day with a blistering 69.

Vale’s Coy Schaffeld led the Vikings to a third place showing with a 416 stroke total and Enterprise’s 462 was good enough for fourth place led by Nathan Lamb’s 102. Heppner ended with 514 led by Owen Guerra’s 116 and host Grant Union, with a 527, was sixth led by Till Winegar’s 106.

For the girls, the host Prospectors made good use of the home course, winning the team title with a 508 led by Layla Wenick’s 118. Enterprise’s 525 was second led by Kimber Stein’s 121 and Vale placed third in the team standings with a 529 led by Brooke Bair’s 100.

Not qualifying for a team score, Burns’ Chloe has the low score of the day with a 98.
