The soccer season is entering playoff mode, and two eastern Oregon teams will be boarding buses with chances to make a run towards a state title.

In 4A boys’ action, Baker/Powder Valley will make the trip to Madras on Friday, Nov 1 for a play-in game versus the White Buffaloes with the game time slated for 6 p.m.

Currently ranked 20th, the Bulldogs face the eighth ranked Madras team from the Tri-Valley Conference with the winner entering the 16-team bracket.

Baker/Powder Valley/Pine Eagle wrapped up the regular season with a 6-7 overall record and a third place showing in the 4A Greater Oregon League standings. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 2-2 showing.

Host Madras finished their season third in the Tri-Valley Conference with an 8-4-2 overall record. Like the Bulldogs, the White Buffalos ended the season with a .500 showing, going 2-2.

The Ontario girls’ soccer team will also fight for a playoff berth with a play-in game in Gladstone on Saturday, Nov. 2, also with a 6 p.m. start time.

The 20th ranked Tigers finished the season 3-7-3 and third in the 4A Greater Oregon League standings. Ontario closed out the fall with a victory over Baker/Powder Valley.

Playing host, Gladstone also finished third in the 4A Tri-Valley Conference and are ranked 11th in the state with a 5-5-4 overall record. The Gladiators also closed out the year with a victory, winning over Valley Catholic, 2-0.
