Breakdown Of 1A Volleyball Opening Round

The state volleyball tournament is off and running with round one scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 27.

Ione/Arlington travels to Powder Valley: The Cardinals are the third seed from the Big Sky League and post an 11-9 overall record. After falling to Echo in the Big Sky Tournament, Ione/Arlington made their way to the state tournament with a win over Glenwook/Klickitat.

Powder Valley is the second seed from the Old Oregon League and have a 23-9 overall record. The Badgers were riding a six-game win streak until they ran into Joseph in the finals of the Old Oregon League tournament. Powder Valley fell in a 2-3 match.

Imbler at Jordan Valley: Imbler is the third seed from the Old Oregon League with a 14-5 record. The Leopards fell to Joseph in the opening round of the Old Oregon Tournament and came back to beat Cove for a ticket to the state tournament.

The Mustangs of Jordan Valley fell to the Crane Mustangs in the High Desert League Tournament and enter the state tournament as the number two seed. Jordan Valley was forced to a five-set long win over Adrian to make it to the state tourney.

Prairie City/Burnt River at Central Christian: The Panthers have a 7-10 overall record, but shocked Adrian to make it to the state tournament as the third seed from the High Desert League.

Host Central Christian is the second seed from the Mountain Valley League with a 15-5 overall record. Central Christian fell to eventual champion Rogue Valley Adventist Academy in the finals of the Mountain Valley Tournament, 0-3.

League champions Echo (Big Sky), Joseph (Old Oregon) and Crane (High Desert) all have a bye for the first round.
