The Oregon Schools Activities Association released the preseason coaches’ poll for the upcoming boys soccer season.
Looking at the 4A poll, after dropping down to 4A last season and grabbing a state title, Woodburn is picked to repeat this year. Eastern Oregon makes the listing in the number nine slot with McLoughlin and North Valley picking up 20 votes each. Last year’s district champions, the Ontario Tigers, were out of the top ten, but did pick up votes from the Oregon coaches.
In the 3A/2A/1A poll, it was 2017 when Riverside last saw a state title. In 2017, the Pirates downed Catlin Gabel, 4-1. Oregon coaches are picking a similar outcome this soccer season. Catlin Gabel, the current state title holders, is picked to repeat while Oregon Episcopal is ranked second. Riverside rounds out the top three. Â
