REDMOND – The Union Bobcats and Grant Union Prospectors had already played twice before in the regular season with the Bobcats taking both matches. At the state tournament they played once more, this time with a 4th or 6th place finish at state on the line. Union again came out on top 25-19, 25-15, 25-17.
Union finishes their season with a 24-4 record on the year.
In the first round the #3 ranked Bobcats lost a tight match to #6 Vernonia 26-24, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23. In the consolation bracket Union faced another familiar foe in Weston-McEwen but beat them in four, 25-15, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21.
Grant Union lost in the first round to Portland Christian 25-7, 25-10, 25-18 before they beat Bonanza 25-18, 30-32, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13.
Union had two players selected to the all-tournament second team in senior Autumn Daggett and junior Kylie Marriott.
