NYSSA – After leading Nyssa by eight points at the half, the Umatilla boys’ basketball exploded with a 21-point third quarter and cruised to a 65-39 Eastern Oregon League win on Monday, Jan. 31 in Nyssa.

Nyssa showed balanced scoring in the first half, scoring 11 points each in the first and second quarters of the game. Umatilla did the same, putting up 15 points in each of the two quarters.

The Vikings came out hot in the third, outscoring the Bulldogs 21-6 as the Bulldogs went cold shooting.

Seven players for Umatilla placed points on the board for the Vikings in the third quarter, including Oscar Campos with part of his game high 15 points.

Emilio Jaimez had 13 points in the Viking victory and Ulises Armenta and Michael Montez each ended the night with nine points.

In the loss, Nyssa’s Zach Enders finished the game with 15 points.
