BAKER – Football coaches of the 3A Special District 4 (yes, the EOL) met Tuesday, Oct. 31, not for Halloween but to vote on the all-league selections for the district.
Coaching staff representing McLoughlin did not attend.
The top awards for the season saw a Vale sweep including Defensive Player of the Year (Brooks Haueter), Defensive Lineman of the Year (Jake DeVos), Offensive Player of the Year (Colten Stepleton), Offensive Lineman of the Year (Gino Longoni), Special Teams Player of the Year (Leland Tamez), Coach of the Year (Jeff Aldred) and Assistant Coach of the Year (Nate Aldred).
The honors continued for Vale throughout the honors for first team, second team and honorable mention on the offensive and defensive side of the ball including special teams.
A total of 22 Viking players received the nod in the special district selections.
As the runner-up in the league, Burns football placed 17 players on the list. Nyssa followed closely with 16 players on the list. The Vikings of Umatilla saw seven players receiving honors.
EOS decided to change things up a little this year, listing the defense first. Quarterbacks, running back and receivers also receive the attention so you will need to read down past the defensive stars to find those names putting the points on the board.
