NYSSA – Baker coach Jason Ramos is a pretty smart guy. The coach of the Bulldog girls figured out early a strong inside game combined with strong rebounding on both ends of the court was all that was needed for the 4A Bulldogs to down the 3A Bulldogs of Nyssa on Tuesday, Jan. 28 as Baker beat Nyssa, 65-36.
This nonleague game was close early on with the score tied 7-7. However, seven points early on was all Nyssa would score in the first quarter as Baker would go on for a 15-point first quarter. Baker would later add a 12-point second quarter and lead at the half, 27-18 over their 3A opponents.
Ramos made the adjustments at halftime with Baker exploding in the third quarter for 21 points while the Nyssa offense struggled for seven points.
Baker saw balanced scoring as 10 players added to the team’s 65 points. Baker was led by Molly Rasmussen’s 12 points with Kathyrn Gentry adding 10 points. Lily Logsdon finished her night with nine points. Baker saw only 18 of the 65 points from beyond the three-point line with the inside game dominating the smaller Nyssa squad.
In the loss, Amity Hartley had nine points for Nyssa followed by Paisley Johnson’s eight points. Chloe Johns finished with seven points.
