NYSSA – The visiting teams from Idaho dominated the top 10 in the team scores as action came to a close at the Calhoun Classic in Nyssa on Saturday, Dec. 10. The Bulldogs of Baker/Powder Valley ended the tournament as the top Oregon team, placing 11th.
The top high point for eastern Oregon came in the 106-pound class as Pine Eagle sophomore Hunter Buck took home the championship after a pin over Fruitland’s Braden Griffith.
Baker/Powder Valley picked up points after a third place finish by senior Cade Lind at 220 pounds and a fourth place finish by sophomore Aldo Duran wrestling at 120 pounds.
Host Nyssa saw a second-place finish by senior Jesse Aragon as the top Bulldog finish.
The top finish for the Vale Vikings came at 170 pounds as sophomore Kase Schaffeld placed fourth.
Ontario senior Nikloas Sigrah finished his day in second place wrestling at 195 pounds.
