MILTON FREEWATER – The Bulldog boys of Baker will enter the state cross country meet with the title of Greater Oregon League champions.
Baker finished the day with 24 points while second place La Grande wrapped up their day with 49 points. Both teams qualify for the upcoming state tournament. The host Pioneers of MacHi placed third and Ontario was fourth.
Baker picked up three of the top five placements in the race led by junior Thaddeus Pepera taking the individual title. Pepera finished the 5,000 meters in a time of 17 minutes, 22.30 seconds. His teammate, freshman Daniel Brown, placed second with a time of 18:13.38. Bulldog junior Jordan Mills ran fourth.
Ontario junior Michael Gomez will be making his first trip to the state cross country meet after a fifth-place finish and a time of 18:42.70.
The top finish for the host Pioneers went to junior Ethan Jones in seventh.
