ADRIAN – The last time the scoreboard did not show a Crane win in boys basketball was clear back on Dec. 7, 2023. At that time, over one year ago, Union downed the Mustangs, 58-46 at the 1A Preview tournament.
Since that fateful day, the Mustangs have strung together 43 victories including a state championship last season. On Tuesday, Jan. 21, that string extended to 44 as Crane downed Adrian, 79-44 in 1A High Desert League play.
The Mustangs led this game from the tip, putting in 25 points in the first quarter and adding 28 points in the second to lead at halftime, 53-22. The Lopes struggled with Crane’s inside game and speed of the Mustangs throughout the game. Adding 22 points in the third quarter, the game entered the “running clock” at the start of the fourth quarter as the Crane starters took the bench.
Seven Mustang players added to the Crane total led by Cody Siegner’s 26 points. Casse Roozeboom added 13 points, six of those from the perimeter three-point line. Joah Friedrichsen also found the mark from the perimeter with 12 points, all three-pointers. Tommy Jack Rose ended his night with 10 points.
Adrian split the team’s top scorers between Colten Bayes and Silvestre Rico, both with 10 points. Brooks Martin and Rance Jordan each added seven points.
