ADRIAN – The Adrian community gathered together on Thursday, Aug. 18 to officially open the school’s new track facility.
The six-lane facility has been planned for years with the Adrian Boosters hosting the annual Owyhee Off-Road Challenge with the proceeds going towards the associated costs of the track. The Boosters Club capped off Thursday’s event thanking the sponsors from throughout the years and presenting the school district with a check for $135,000.
The track was completed recently by the same company working on the remodel of the hallowed Hayward Field at Oregon State University. The Antelope track and field team has been using the track at neighboring Nyssa High School for many years prior to the completion of their own facility.
After introductions and thanks from Adrian Superintendent Nick Kettering and booster representative Nikki Shira, the community was invited to participate in a celebratory lap on the track.
